His name is Gizmo — and he didn't arrive on purpose.
It started late one night
The engineer behind SmartGizmoShop has always worked late. Notebooks full of ideas. Half-built devices on every surface.
One evening his hands moved without direction — picking up gears left from an earlier build, fitting them together. He wasn't paying attention. He was thinking.
Then the power went out.
He reached for a flashlight — and pulled out a small lamp instead. He pressed it into the gear assembly just to keep it from rolling off the desk.
The gears around the lamp began to glow amber orange. The smallest gear started to spin.
"Interesting," he said quietly. "You actually work."
The morning after
He fell asleep at his desk.
When he woke, the first thing he noticed was the notebook.
Engraved into the cover: SMARTGIZMOSHOP — and right before it, a gear with a lamp inside.
He looked at the desk. At the notebook. Back at the desk.
That's him.
His name is Gizmo.
And of course - he's Smart.
